Omi’s Sausage Crostini

Another family favorite, we BEG Omi to bring this to our gatherings. I could eat these as a meal itself. These go great with a nice glass of a red blend.


You will need:

1 lb bulk Italian Sausage ( mild, hot or 1/2 & 1/2)

1 medium red pepper, seeded and finely diced

1 cup diced sweet onion

1 8 oz pkg cream cheese softened

1 8 oz pkg shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tbsp chopped fresh basil

French baguette sliced


Cook and crumble sausage, then drain fat. In large mixing bowl add sausage, bell pepper, basil and onion. Mix well. Add cream cheese and mozzarella cheese, stir until fully blended. Preheat oven to 375. Brush both sides of baguette with some olive oil and place in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake about 8 minutes until lightly brown, turning halfway. Remove from oven, then top bread slices with sausage mixture. Bake an additional 8 minutes.
