Exhausted, Reset, Renewed

This week I hit a level of exhaustion I had never experienced before. It felt like the worst case of jet lag, the kind that makes your mind foggy and your body heavy. But if I’m honest, it wasn’t a total surprise ( and Im not as young as I once was either).

We had just come back from a whirlwind vacation……different cities, hotels, constant movement, packing and unpacking. The very next day I was back in the car, headed to the beach for a few events I had scheduled. Seventy-two hours later, I was home again to gather and celebrate my mother’s birthday.

By Monday afternoon, it all caught up with me. My body shut down, and my thoughts started racing:

I’m doing too much.

I need to slow down.

This is crazy.

So I did something that didn’t come easy: I stopped. I listened to my body. For a few days, I set aside the to-do lists and the errands and gave myself permission to rest. No plans, no rushing, just stillness.

And here’s the truth, I needed it. Because it wasn’t just the travel or the pace that wore me down. The emotional weight of current events, the kind that sits quietly in the background, had been heavier than usual too. Sometimes it all piles up, whether we realize it or not.

What I learned is this: don’t make rash decisions when you’re exhausted. Reset first. Listen to your body. Take a breather.

Today, I feel like myself again. I even took a beautiful 3.5-mile walk with a friend at the Riverwalk in Rock Hill. The sun was shining, the water was calm, and I was reminded how restorative it feels to slow down and simply be present.

Sometimes rest isn’t just a pause, it’s the very thing that lets us keep moving forward.

I hope this helps someone who needed to hear this today. 💕
