Cocktail hour is always a little more special when it's made with something homemade. This Fig Old Fashioned takes a timeless classic and gives it a seasonal twist with roasted fig syrup, adding rich fruit flavor and subtle caramel notes without overpowering the bourbon. It's simple, elegant, and one of those cocktails that feels just as at home on a Lowcountry porch as it does in an Italian wine bar. One sip, and you'll understand why this has become my new favorite way to toast fig season.
You will need:
2 oz bourbon
1/2 oz roasted fig syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 rosemary sprig and half a fig for garnish
Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add the bourbon, fig syrup and bitters. Stir well, garnish and enjoy!!
