Forget the canister from the store! Your own kitchen holds the secret to the best bread crumbs you’ll ever taste. All you need are a few slices of bread, a splash of olive oil, and a sprinkle of seasoning, and you’ll have crunchy, homemade crumbs that turn every dish into something special.
You will need:
6–8 slices leftover bread, thawed if frozen
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp dried parsley
2 tbsp olive oil
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice bread into thin pieces.
Arrange slices on a baking sheet and bake until completely dry and crisp, about 8–10 minutes.
Let bread cool. Place in a large resealable plastic bag and pound with a rolling pin until fine crumbs form. (A food processor may also be used.)Spread crumbs evenly on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with garlic salt and parsley, then drizzle with olive oil. Toss to coat.
Return to oven for 2–3 minutes, until golden and crunchy.
Let cool completely, then store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for longer storage.
