I say it over and over, home made pizza isn’t that hard. It’s better, cheaper and faster than take out. I purchase my dough pre-made at a local bakery. However almost all large grocery chains carry it and you will usually find it near the bakery or deli section. The sauce is also quick and easy. Bake the pie on greased foil for easy removal. Forget the cornmeal on the pizza paddle. Just place the pie on top of the foil on the paddle and slide into a 450 preheated oven, either on the oven grates or preferably a pizza stone.
You will need:
1 28 is can Tutteroso crushed tomatoes
2 garlic cloves minced
1 tsp red pepper flakes
Olive oil
1 tsp Sea salt
Fresh Basil
Fresh oregano
Toast garlic in a few tablespoons of olive oil. As sea salt and red pepper flakes then add can of tomatoes. Pinch a few Basil and oregano leaves and roughly tear then add to sauce. Simmer for an hour stirring occasionally so the sauce doesn’t stick. Spread on rolled out pizza dough, add cheese and toppings. Bake for 20 minutes or so until the crust is light brown and cheese is melted. Bake longer for crispier crust but make sure you don’t burn the cheese!
